Must be able to work with minimum supervision and be assertive in the pursuit of quality and accuracy. QUALIFICATIONS: BA/BS in food science or related field. Minimum 3 years experience in a food processing plant. Must have good computer skills including MS Excel and Word. Proficient knowledge of food ingredients, interactions and nutritional levels. Working knowledge of product labeling. Excellent written and oral skills. Strong problem solving, time management and acute sensory skills. Work effectively in a team environment. Language skills, mathematical skills, reasoning ability, and good attention to detail. Must have Genesis software knowledge. DUTIES: Working and managing new product development projects from conception to full scale production Develop new and line extension products and processes to comply with customer requirements Researching market/industry trends and products to identify new product opportunities or to improve existing ingredients. Sourcing and testing new ingredients and processes needed in product creation Creating and prepare benchtop samples Monitoring, tracking and organizing all approved proposed new product samples Carry out analysis of products using lab equipment. Maintain databases of ingredient and formula changes. Provide assistance with labeling and nutritional analysis Completing any setup requirements; communicating with procurement and production Working with plant managers to scale up new products from benchtop to full commercial production Carry out shelf life evaluations of new products and potential shelf life extension of existing products. Carry out the routine quality evaluations of products from production to ensure product quality is consistent. Flavor new products and flavor match existing products Communicate with vendors and customers on all technical related issues Documents test results, specifications, and final formula procedures in a standard format Develop gummy formulations and proof formulas/recipes. Evaluate and improve flavor profiles. Identify and assist in solving complex technical problems related to the development, manufacturing, and/or improvement of products /processes. Ability to identify technical, formulation and processing issues with bench-top trials and factory runs. Prepare the scientific content in regulatory documents, manufacturing instructions, and SOPs. Will develop manufacturing instructions, scale up batches, and transfer processes into manufacturing Keeps abreast of current trends, practices, developments, and regulatory changes, which would impact products, procedures, or formulation MISC:Salary DOE and past verifiable work history. 1st shift position 8am to 430pm.
