Summary:

Facebook is seeking an Operations Engineering Manager to lead a team of Electrical and Mechanical Engineers. Our data centers are the foundation upon which our rapidly growing infrastructure efficiently operates and our innovative services are delivered. Establishing new regions in the US, Europe, and Asia are important next steps in the evolution of the Facebook’s infrastructure expansion. The Operations Engineering team designs retrofit and upgrade projects, and ensures our highly reliable environment is guaranteed. Leading critical projects cross-functionally, supporting the regions with deep dives and expert analyses, implementing solutions broadly across all regions, and developing engineering talent are key to advancing operational excellence. This position is full-time and located in our Menlo Park headquarters office.

Required Skills:

  1. Grow and develop the MPK headquarters Ops Engineering team. Supporting the North American regions, this team leads strategic solutions to complex engineering issues, and ensures global implementation.

  2. Scope and execute Data Center retrofit projects, complex engineering projects, and key initiatives for the US regions. Ensure tight coordination, standardization in approach, and shared practices between two headquarters locations, Menlo Park and Dublin.

  3. Hire and develop a high performing engineering team.

  4. Develop and implement innovative and robust processes and standards.

  5. Lead analyses of electrical, mechanical, and water systems, along with associated improvements.

  6. Identify and drive quality and process improvement initiatives globally across teams.

  7. Lead equipment failure and power outage incidents and drive root cause analyses. Communicate and implement solutions broadly across all regions.

  8. Review mission critical system changes with data center teams.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in engineering

  2. Experience leading data center, mission critical facilities, or technical operation organizations where high availability is required

  3. Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on, evolving environment

  4. Track record developing a high performing engineering team

  5. Experience leading projects

  6. Cross-discipline familiarity of complete critical facility systems

  7. Ability to communicate across the organization and at the executive level

  8. Ability to travel nationally and internationally approximately 30% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering

  2. Advanced degree in engineering or business

  3. Professional Engineer license or equivalent

  4. Understanding of data center power and cooling infrastructure
