Summer Program Overview
The Summer Analyst program at MUFG has a reputation for providing college students with the opportunity to participate in meaningful projects that contribute to the overall business unit objectives. In addition to the assigned projects, students are given the opportunity to participate in activities that encourage networking with peers, managers, and bank employees. These paid positions are full-time (40 hours per week) during regular business hours throughout the summer. The length of the summer program is 10-12 weeks and can extend beyond that time depending on business needs, project requirements, and student availability.

We are looking for individuals who will help drive our business lines forward with the potential for career growth into a full-time role after graduation.
This Summer Analyst position will provide an excellent opportunity for students to gain exposure within various professional areas of Financial Services at the bank. The team, to which the student is chosen, will assign several responsibilities and projects relevant to the group and department needs.
This position is located in the Oakland, CA office.
Supervision & Mentorship
Each student is assigned a mentor in addition to their actual manager. The mentor will provide goals and professional development guidance and conduct performance reviews as a commitment to our summer analysts. At the end of the program, you will obtain a better understanding of your group and how your role can play a part in the success of the bank .
Team and Position Description
This Summer Analyst position is within the Transaction Banking & Deposits Business Unit Controllers (BUC) Team based in the Oakland office. The team is responsible for ensuring accurate accounting and reporting in support of the business segment and various bank-wide initiatives. In addition to gaining industry exposure through collaboration on the team’s reporting and accounting functions, the selected intern will have an excellent opportunity to support the Deposit Transformation technology project.
Role and Responsibilities
• Coordinate deadlines and deliverables for Deposit Transformation workstreams through cross-functional collaboration
•Prepare various financial reporting deliverables and provide data analytics in support of regulatory filings and executive reporting
•Learn the month-end close process related to transaction banking and deposits
•Evaluate business processes and provide recommendations for improvements
- Must be currently enrolled in a college program, with an expected graduation date of December
2018 or May/June 2019
Solid academic standing; generally with a GPA of 3.0 or higher
College major or concentration should be relevant to the specific line of business considered
Microsoft Office Suite proficiency (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
Strong verbal and written communications skills are required
Excellent organization and time management skills with attention to detail
Self-starter with the ability to synthesize ambiguous information and develop creative solutions
Ability to work efficiently and effectively on team-oriented projects or independently, as needed
Must possess individual initiative, self-discipline and integrity, leadership qualities
