JOB SUMMARY: In accordance with the mission and philosophy of Dignity Health, the Vice President of Strategic Marketing and Communications, Bay Service Area is a professional who assumes responsibility and accountability for the marketing and communication functions for the Bay Service Area under the direction of the Chief Strategy Officer, applying Dignity Health Core Values to the performance of every job duty. These Values include Dignity, Collaboration, Justice, Stewardship, and Excellence. This position is responsible for planning and leading the Marketing and Communications efforts across the services area including St. Mary’s Medical Center, Saint Francis Memorial Hospital, Sequoia Hospital, and Dominican Hospital. The marketing function is charged with service line growth, working with corporate agencies to promote key service lines, increasing brand awareness, and facility specific marketing needs. The communications function is charged with the management of all internal and external communications activities supporting the service area and is responsible for managing the media. This position may also be responsible for corporate wide initiatives such as Women’s Service line marketing. The position may also work in collaboration with the Dignity Health Medical Group marketing director. Positions reporting to this position include hospital based marketing managers, Bay Area graphic designer, Bay Area digital marketing manager and the Bay Area Manager of communications. The position is responsible for the marketing and communications budget across the service area. This position has indirect reporting relationships to the corporate marketing and communication team: VP of Communications, VP of Brand and VP of Service Line Marketing.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: This position requires a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing or a related field and at least five years experience in public relations, marketing, advertising or the mainstream media with proven written and planning ability. Insight regarding effective marketing techniques and theory is preferred.
