University of California, Riverside Competitive Sports Coordinator in Riverside, California

Position Information

The UC Riverside Recreation Programs/Student Recreation Center is seeking a self motivated, enthusiastic and proactive professional to assist the Asst. Recreation Director Competitive Sports in the daily operations of Intramural Sports and Sports Clubs, departmental and program, and assisting in all other aspects of the program portfolio.

Education Requirements

Degree Requirement

Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Required

Master's Degree. Preferred


Certification Requirement

Red Cross CPR. Required

Standard First Aid Training Certification. Required


Condition Requirement

Ability to obtain Red Cross CPR and Standard First Aid Training Certifications within 6 months of appointment begin date. Required

Active member of NIRSA and other professional organizations in the Competitive Sports field. Preferred


Experience Requirement

Minimum of 8 years of related experience. Required

2 years of recreation or collegiate sports programming experience. Preferred

Demonstrated experience in working in a camp environment. Preferred

Special Conditions

Special Condition Requirement

Ability to successfully pass FBI and DOJ Criminal Check. Required

Ability to work evening and weekend hours. Required

Travel with intramural and competitive sports teams to local, regional and/or national tournaments. Required

Minimum Requirements

Strong leadership and interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively across the organization. Demonstrates advanced client service leadership, entrepreneurial spirit and creative thinking skills to resolve non-standard issues. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language. Demonstrated ability to incorporate key program information for inclusion in web-based and other marketing materials. Advanced proficiency in the use of computer applications relevant to job duties. Highly effective service orientation; program management, sound judgment and decision-making, critical thinking skills, skills to develop original ideas, creative problem solving skills in a varied and challenging environment. Advanced knowledge of program activity and best practices. Demonstrated ability to analyze and improve programs and processes as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced knowledge of campus policies and procedures.
