Performs a variety of tasks associated with the day-to-day operations and administration of IT systems. These duties include a wide range of information technology support to meet the information needs of the United States Attorney’s Office (USAO) using network hardware and software capabilities. Specific assignments will include
Responsible for the operations and maintenance of IT systems set up by the Government to provided automated litigation support/IT resources to specific cases
Responsible for allocating and tracking disk space; providing consulting support and advice to, and coordinating with, IT users responsible for specific applications/databases on the servers
Responsible for identifying and ordering needed supplies, hardware and software and accessories
Administers not only hardware and operating systems software, but also database and other application software
Provides IT customer service and support in trouble shooting, recovery and resolving recurring software/hardware problems
Performs routine assignments and segments of projects related to technical planning, design, development, testing, implementation, and management of Internet, intranet, and extranet activities, including systems/applications development and technical management of Web sites. Converts user-developed content into workable Web pages using standard graphics mark-up languages, such as hypertext markup language (HTML) or extensible markup language (XML). Uses a variety of formats to deliver content using the Internet, including graphics and multimedia, and knowledge of Adobe Acrobat
Provides user training and assistance on a variety of routine applications;
Coordinate with other Litigation Support Specialist in conducting, Video Teleconferences; Training and or Trial Support.
Assists the Systems Supervisor with the identification of hardware and software needs, as well as the purchase and inventory of IT materials and supplies. Promptly reports all inventory additions, moves, and changes and assists with the completion of physical inventory sightings of IT equipment
Work with AUSAs in creating PowerPoint presentations, Eclipse Databases, Trial Director Databases, and other forms of demonstrative evidence requested by the AUSA, to include but not limited to Audio\Video editing, Training in the use of File Exchange software and hard drive copies.
Qualifications. One to two years’ experience in the design, installation, testing, debugging, modification, and maintenance of local area networks will generally be expected. Experience must be directly applicable to the LAN environment being used. MS Windows experience. Prior experience on a Government IT contract preferred. Two (2) years technical training in computers or graduation from an accredited computer training institute; however, significant experience may be substituted for the education requirement. Demonstrated experience in the use of LAN to LAN and LAN to WAN connectors such as bridges, gateways, routers. Experience in the installation and troubleshooting of CAT5 cabling and peripherals. Knowledge of Courtroom presentation software such as Trial Director, Eclipse; PowerPoint; Audio/Video editing software’s. Demonstrated experience in data communications and related hardware, such as NIC cards, encryption devices, and multiplexers. Knowledge of litigation support and litigation support software helpful. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Excellent end user interaction skills.
Under close supervision, maintains data files and control procedures for a system of networked computers or for a single group of microcomputers linked to a host workstation, or mainframe. Assists in maintaining system security and data integrity. Assigns passwords and monitors use of resources, backs up files as required and responds to management requests for information.
Assists in establishing and maintaining user accounts, assigns file permissions and establishes password and account policies; installs, upgrades, configures, tests, maintains and supports operating system software in a production environment. Participates in reviewing performance logs and monitors system performance. Troubleshoots and resolves basic level system hardware, software and communications problems and aids in performing configurations and adjustments to enhance database file capacity; performs automated and manual backup and restore processes. Installs, configures and tests software packages. Performs daily system monitoring, verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes, reviewing system and application logs, and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups. Performs daily backup operations, ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media, recovery tapes or disks are created, and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary. Performs regular file archival and purge as necessary. Creates, changes, and deletes user accounts per request.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Typically requires bachelor’s degree or equivalent and zero to two years of related experience.

Normal demands associated with an office environment. Ability to work on computer for long periods, and communicate with individuals by telephone, email and face to face. Some travel may be required.
