Recognized as one of the nation's outstanding HIV primary care clinics, the Owen Clinic embraces a whole-person view of HIV care, offering a range of programs to address the spectrum of ways in which a person’s life may be impacted by a chronic health condition such as HIV.
The Staff Research Associate (SRA) will support a study focused on assessing how levels of health literacy and HCV knowledge can influence patients' willingness to receive HCV treatment. Under general supervision of the Principle Investigator, the SRA will: conduct interventions and data collection activities as specified by research protocols, maintain accurate records, and prepare study-related reports.
The SRA will be responsible for recruiting study participants, obtaining signed informed consent forms, and will maintain the central registry of eligible participants. The SRA will administer the health literacy, HCV and HIV knowledge assessments using standard validated interventions and will ensure that the self-assessments are completed in a private room using a tablet computer before the participants’ medical encounter.
The incumbent will establish and maintain collaborative relationships with community and clinic partners, as well as study staff and sponsor team. An important part of this position will be to arrange and coordinate data monitoring efforts with our Clinical Pharmacy team involved in HCV treatment of our patients. .
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Behavioral Sciences, Health Education or related field.
Previous experience in a research setting involving human subjects including experience with HIV+ adults.
Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
Demonstrated experience in data collection, assembly and analysis. Development of progress and final reporting.
Ability to maintain and protect confidentiality of participant information.
Strong basic computer skills such as word processing and data entry, as well as experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access, and SPSS.
Proven ability to effectively communicate with a diverse population.
Ability to prioritize workload and work independently.
One to two years' research experience.
Experience with Motivational Interviewing and other behavioral interventions strongly.
Fluent in both English/Spanish strongly preferred or with background and experience in cultural competence with Spanish-speaking populations.
