Participates in the daily operations of 1-800-SCRIPPS Call Center. Serves as the front line and is often the first contact with customers. Provides customers with physician referrals and appointments to Scripps affiliated physicians. Provides customers with class, CPR, support group, special event and screening information and registration. Identifies caller needs and provides appropriate service referrals to departments and programs within Scripps, affiliated organizations and community partners. Promotes Scripps and its affiliated physicians and provides an excellent customer service environment so customers want to affiliate and retain their loyalty with Scripps. Utilizes complex, relational computerized physician and class database. Mails out health education and fulfillment materials about Scripps. Handles difficult customers appropriately. Provides call center services for high volume programs within Scripps. Supports the Scripps Maternal Child Health program by providing callers with information and registration of maternity classes and programs, hospital tours, breastfeeding programs and parenting classes. Works closely the Scripps Mende Well Being staff to ensure timely coordination of programs, processing of credit card transactions and cancellations of classes. Runs rosters for classes and tours. Support a variety of programs and services for Scripps Center for Integrative Medicine. Provides callers with class information, enrollment and fulfillment materials. Supports clinical trial calls and refers callers to the Wellderly study. Assists the database coordinator with physician and class information updates and supports the database management process of collecting, updating and providing information about our affiliated physicians, classes, services, programs, health screening and events.

  • Required Education/Experience/Specialized Skills: * Four years’ experience in health care or customer service, marketing, or physician office related field. Excellent communication, customer service and relationship building behaviors and skills. Strong organizational, data collection and analytical skills Ability to identify and solve problems. Able to adapt, create urgency, prioritize and meet deadlines.
    Ability to handle difficult customers appropriately. Ability to manage confidential information. Proficient in the use of multiple computer applications including customer relationship management systems, patient registration and scheduling, electronic health record and billing. Knowledge of medical terminology, commercial and government health insurance, referrals and authorizations and billing guidelines Knowledge of basic community services and ability to access resources. Knowledge of Medicare, Medi-Cal, health plans and managed care including an understanding of how to access health care appropriately. FOR SPANISH SPEAKING: Fluent in the Spanish language with understanding of medical terminology (written and oral)

Preferred Education/Experience/Specialized Skills/Certification: Three years of experience in customer service and/or health care/medical office environment.
