Petco Senior Citrix Engineer in San Diego, California

This position requires a seasoned professional with a proven track record of relying on their innovation, creativity, technical prowess and leadership skills to deliver robust, efficient and stable Citrix solutions.

Engineer must have demonstrable experience supporting and managing large enterprise environments, marrying complex business requirements to progressive design solutions, and overseeing the transition to production.

Must be capable of presenting solutions to diverse audience, develop detailed documentation, and perform service delivery skills in support of large-scale Xen Desktop and Xen App environment.

Must be highly-motivated, technology driven, possess strong communications skills, can develop strong cross-group collaboration and is willing to take on the challenge of dealing with ambiguity. Must have an in-depth understanding of Citrix Engineering and Administration.

Responsibilities:

  • Support complex system configurations and standards for Xen App 5.0 and above and XenDesktop versions 5.6 and above.

  • Assess, recommend, plan, and implement complex VDI/XenApp/App Delivery Virtualization projects using various technologies.

  • Develop repeatable standards and implementation processes to ensure product uniformity and quality.

  • Directly interact with peers in support of complex VDI/XenApp/App Delivery environments.

  • Serve as a technical escalation point in support of high risk, complex operational challenges.

  • Serves as a mentor for other technical staff and provides consultation, guidance and support as needed to operational and technical staff.

  • Apply best practices, strategies, methodologies, and approaches to large scale projects.

  • Participate in the update of support documentation.

  • Works as liaison with contractors and vendors as needed.

  • Participate in the creation of work instructions and knowledge base articles.

  • Participate in the Change Management and other ITIL processes.

  • Direct involvement in working with internal and external teams to engineer, implement, and support configurations - hardware, software and services.

Qualifications

  • Advanced and proven track record of engineering and supporting highly available Citrix environments involving Xen App and/or Xen Desktop.

  • Experience with NetScaler versions 10.1 and above Load balancing.

  • Strong knowledge of Citrix Provisioning server and Machine Creation Services.

  • Lead to Perform day to day Operation activity in CITRIX Production environment

  • Architect-level skills designing, implementing, & supporting Citrix Xen App and Xen Desktop environments.

  • Practical experience supporting application virtualization in both Citrix Xen App and VDI implementations.

  • Ability to manage/support Citrix application builds & release cycles.

  • Knowledge of advanced administration and maintenance of Citrix infrastructure and published applications.

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft desktop and server environments.

  • Windows Desktop experience and support for Windows 7 and Windows 10.

  • Windows Server experience and support for Windows 2003 through 2016.

  • Understanding of various monitoring tools (e.g vROPs, Solarwinds, Nagios, SCOM, Altiris, etc.)

  • Understanding and ability to automate and script administration tasks.

  • Experience working within a tier 1/2 outsourced support model.

  • Knowledge of networking protocols (OSI network layers, TCP/IP)

  • Must be able to provide 7X24 Operation support with on-call support experience as needed.

  • Self-driven and able to work in a high-paced environment with frequently changing priorities

  • Must be able to communicate with system owners to determine status of devices and be able to negotiate with Change Management to schedule changes.

  • Must be able to track developments in alternative methods (i.e., spreadsheets and databases) and to communicate with other engineering resources.

  • Experienced in Citrix Xen-Product skills and experience designing, installing, configuring, managing, and troubleshooting complex and large VDI solutions.

  • Expert level skills designing, implementing, & supporting Citrix Xen App and Xen Desktop environments.

  • Skills in core Citrix Virtual Desktop and Virtual Application technologies to include PVS 6.1 and above, Appsense, UPM and CAG.

  • Ability to manage/support Citrix application builds & release cycles.

  • Knowledge of advanced administration and maintenance of Citrix infrastructure and published applications

  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft desktop and server environments

  • Evaluate, release, test and document application deployment strategies for Citrix environments

Desired Qualifications:
