Corporate Credit Risk

Wells Fargo’s Corporate Credit Risk is responsible for independently overseeing the management of credit risk exposures (including monitoring and reporting on aggregate credit exposures across groups, legal entities, geographies, and jurisdictions) and the quality of credit risk management practices across the company. This oversight extends to all phases of a loan’s life cycle, including origination, underwriting, risk analysis, approval, documentation, boarding, monitoring, loss recognition, modification, and collection activities. Corporate Credit Risk is responsible for delegating and/or removing credit and investment approval authorities to the lines of business.

Credit Capital, Allowance, and Stress Testing

The Credit Capital, Allowance, and Stress Testing Team (CCAST) is a unit within Corporate Credit responsible for (i) oversight and estimation of risk weighted assets (RWA) in compliance with BASEL regulations, (ii) consolidation coordination, documentation and oversight of the Allowance for Credit Losses (ACL) and related external disclosures, including new CECL and IFRS 9 implementation; (iii) coordination, documentation , and submission for the credit section of the Corporate Stress Testing exercises in compliance with Dodd Frank and Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Reporting (CCAR) requirements. The team engages with areas throughout the bank to support the coverage of the Wells Fargo loan portfolio including Credit Officers and other key corporate staff. The team is also responsible for maintaining strong relationships with and responsiveness to regulators, external auditors and other examiners.

The Role

The Head of Credit Stress Testing is responsible for the quality, coordination and submission of the stress testing for the loan portfolio as well as Model Oversight for Credit Basel, Allowance, Credit Stress Testing, and Economic forecast models.

/Specifically this individual will have responsibility to:/

  • Establish a diverse and inclusive environment to nurture a high performance team

  • Lead all aspects of a “best in class” provision and RWA estimation for Stress Testing (including Comprehensive Capital Analysis and Review and DFAST), Recovery and Resolution Planning, and Strategic Business Planning

  • Ensure risks identified are appropriately captured within submission and inventory of scenarios for loan portfolio stress are maintained

  • Establish credible challenge of provision forecast components, including model results and overlays

  • Ensure compliance with applicable stress test governance requirements

  • Manage process to ensure all stress test provision-related deliverables, including data schedules and narrative documentation, are managed to a high quality successful completion

  • Provide for timely and accurate stress test forecast reporting and analysis

  • Lead functional model risk areas which support an effective model risk management and governance framework for loan loss and economic models used across the enterprise for Basel, Allowance, and Stress Testing.

  • Partner with Corporate Model Risk to ensure model governance is effective for functional areas within scope of responsibility

  • Provide for consistent oversight and governance for credit, market and counterparty risk workstreams

  • Oversee design, development, maintenance, and application of information systems that support loss forecast data capture and reporting for stress test, allowance, and business planning purposes

  • Provide strong thought leadership, based on extensive business and credit knowledge and technical subject matter expertise, across credit risk

This position will lead a team of approximately 20 team members, consisting of managers and senior analysts

  • The Candidate*

This leader will have a track record of success in building and managing industry-leading risk functions in the financial services industry. This executive will have substantial experience leading "best-in-class" credit risk management functions, and a thorough knowledge of statistical modeling, economics, information systems, and risk management processes specific to loan portfolios. Leadership, relationship management, and credibility will be determining factors in selection. Successful candidates will be articulate and possess a demonstrated leadership capability; they will have strong interpersonal effectiveness

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of risk reporting experience, risk analytics experience, or a combination of both

  • 7+ years of management experience, in a risk environment
