About the Position
Reporting to the Director of Web and Campus Apps, the Data Warehouse ETL/BI Developer supports SJSU's Student Data Warehousing/Business Intelligence implementation. This position will play a key role in the design, creation, development, and maintenance of Student Data Warehouse.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Business systems analysis
Consult with users to assess their needs and communicate technology systems and solutions.
Analyze business and technical problems, performs systems analysis and design, identifies and assesses alternative solutions to make appropriate recommendations, and develops suitable application specifications.
- ETL Development/Programming
Use industry standard programming languages and frameworks to develop, support and integrate solutions into Student Data Warehouse.
Perform Business analysis, analyze source data, translate business requirements and manage data models.
- Data reporting and analytics
Write SQL statements and scripts, and develop custom reports using OBIEE, Tableau.
Migrate and enhance reports as needed to Student Data Warehouse.
Develop efficient database manipulation code to ensure reliable and consistent result sets.
- Customer service and communication
Triage and address support tickets for timely resolution.
Work effectively with business partners and peers. Promote collaboration and customer service culture
Document plans, roadmaps and communicate to IT and Functional groups.
Education and Experience
A bachelor's degree, preferably in computer science or business, or equivalent training and applied experience and three years of experience in business applications analysis, design, and programming for medium or large scale, multi-programmed computers.
5 years of development experience with People Code, Application Engine, Integration Broker, Component Interface and PeopleSoft web services
5 plus years of experience leading PeopleSoft Student Application implementation and/or upgrade projects.
2 plus years of PeopleSoft version 9.0 or greater and People tools 8.53 experience focusing on Campus Solution modules and Student Applications; Transfer Credit Rules, Degree Audit, Advisement and Records applications
3 plus years of experience developing business requirements and leading systems analysis, design, and testing;
3 plus years of experience in troubleshooting and testing Oracle/PeopleSoft Student Administration modules and integrations.
2 plus years of experience with setting standards, creating and maintaining application architecture and design and leading technical and functional teams.
3 plus years of experience with database design and development, SQL, Stored Procedures, and Triggers.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Expert in Oracle Database, SQL, PL/SQL, ETL integration tools like IBM DataStage, ODI, Informatica and SSIS etc.
Strong knowledge in Oracle Data Integrator and OBIEE.
Strong understanding of Enterprise Data modeling and Enterprise Data Dictionary methods.
Advanced knowledge of enterprise data architecture, ETL integration, data warehousing techniques, analytics/end-user reporting toolsets.
Advanced knowledge of Systems development life cycle methodologies (Agile and Waterfall) in order to develop effective systems.
Advanced knowledge of solution architecture, data architecture and programming techniques.
Advanced knowledge of application development, testing and deployment processes and tools.
Advanced knowledge of Performance tuning techniques and related database designs.
Working knowledge of Oracle PeopleSoft or equivalent enterprise system.
Working knowledge of software code repositories (e.g. TFS, subversion) and release management process.
Working knowledge of Quality assurance and quality control methodologies in order to comply with established standards.
Working knowledge in conducting technical reviews, creating definition of business problems, including the preparation of business/technical requirements to support the mission of the university and administrative departments;
Strong consultative skills to assess user needs, analyses business processes, and communicate technology solutions.
Strong communication skills with team members - listening first.
Maintain cooperative working relationships with various individuals to ensure a cohesive working environment.
Work independently to ensure work activities are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
Working knowledge of Application program documentation techniques to ensure application development processes are recorded according to standards.
