Wholesale Banking provides financial solutions to businesses across the United States and globally. The Wells Fargo Middle Market Banking Group (MMB) guarantees a high level of service through “relationship banking” in which expertly trained Relationship Managers provide customers with fast, local decision making on credit requests combined with an impressive array of treasury management services and commercial banking products. Additionally, MMB’s Relationship Managers are "Trusted Advisors" that are dedicated to anticipating and serving our customers’ needs on an ongoing basis.

The Bakersfield Regional Commercial Banking Office (RCBO) is seeking a Relationship Manager 3 focused on middle market relationship management. The RM will manage a portfolio of existing customers, partner with the Business Development Officer and Loan Team Leader to prospect new opportunities, and collaborate with product partners to fulfill customers’ banking needs. The ideal candidate will have past experience lending to various industries and loan purposes including production agriculture, oil and gas, and commercial real estate. Important skill set should include the ability to manage multiple deadlines, professional verbal and interpersonal skills and able to effectively communicate to C-Suite level customers, work in a team atmosphere, and enjoy sales and building relationships with customers. The successful candidate will work with public and private companies with revenues ranging from $20 Million to $1 Billion+ in the Central Valley region of the US. This position will be based in Bakersfield.

Duties include:

  • Representing the bank in developing and maintaining client relationships and generating revenues

  • Actively participating in the completion of major transactions with the top management officer of the bank for critical/complex clients

  • Originating, structuring, and executing transactions related to investment banking, traditional commercial lending, treasury management and/or other credit related products.

The territory includes Bakersfield and the surrounding areas.

They are accountable for execution of all applicable risk programs (Credit, Market, Financial Crimes, Operational, Regulatory Compliance), which includes effectively following, and adhering to all applicable Wells Fargo policies and procedures, appropriately fulfilling risk and compliance obligations, timely and effective escalation and remediation of issues, and making sound risk decisions. There is emphasis on proactive monitoring, governance, risk identification and escalation, as well as making sound risk decisions commensurate with the business unit’s risk appetite and all risk and compliance program requirements./

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of account relationship management experience, credit management experience, or a combination of both

Desired Qualifications:

  • Account relationship management experience

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of commercial or specialty group: lending, loan servicing, products, and credit practices

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of negotiating: interest rates, price, terms, and collateral requirements

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of risk management

  • Experience consistently delivering strong sales performance

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills

  • Strong organizational, multi tasking, and prioritizing skills
