About the Role:
Establish a vision and strategy for Americas pricing capabilities, for the Norton, LifeLock and SurfEasy offerings for the Americas region. Join a fast-paced organization driving rapid change to design, implement and maintain analytical models and systems that identify and deliver optimal pricing and discounting decisions for the entire portfolio of business around the world. Take the lead in executing and revising this strategy over time as the Consumer Business Unit’s pricing and revenue management opportunities evolve and as the dynamics of the market change.
Reporting into the COO organization and directly reporting to the Vice President for Analytics and Pricing, this professional will work with interdepartmental teams domestically and internationally to define strategies that drive specific revenue objectives, including maximizing unit sales, revenues, profits and overall customer lifetime value for customers in Symantec’s flagship Consumer and Small Business focused offerings. Apply knowledge of statistical modeling and data analytics to solve impactful business problems and promote data-driven decision making across the enterprise. Insights from analyses – delivered via tools and systems – drive pricing recommendations across all elements of our offering portfolio, including products and services, as well as all monetization models. Must be both strategic and long-term oriented, while simultaneously “living” in the data and teasing out consumer price elasticity opportunities. Work closely with the Executive team to execute strategic initiatives to position the Business Unit’s current and future growth and profitability.
Demonstrate experience, competence and confidence in manipulating and data from multiple sources and systems. Must have exceptional problem-solving expertise and attention to detail, as well as the ability to adapt quickly in a business environment where transformation is constant. Ability to develop a broad knowledge of the business, and leverage that knowledge to deliver automated, scalable systems and tools that deliver information and confidence to make better pricing decisions more quickly.
Develop and maintain the Company’s overall product/service pricing capability, including the tools, frameworks, analyses and testing methodologies required to gain and maintain a deep understanding of consumer price elasticities across a broad range of categories and products
Develop, maintain and deploy specific pricing and promotional strategies, in conjunction with the Sales and Publishing communities, that help to further the company’s goals
Gather data related to the evolving marketplace and competitive landscape and use data to inform strategy development, modeling and analysis
Support the COO’s agenda with deep analytic drill downs into areas identified for expansion and performance improvement
Work with Symantec’s Consumer Business Units across the globe divisions to identify and pursue revenue generation opportunities to leverage Symantec’s global scale. Work with cross functional stakeholders to design and implement easy-to-interpret, actionable dashboards for various target audiences to track past and current sales and pricing performance, and compare to forecasts and plans
Significant experience in developing and executing pricing strategies in a variety of industries (media, consumer goods), with deep understanding of the fundamentals and analytics required to fully flesh out consumer price elasticity at a nuanced and actionable level
MBA or comparable graduate degree strongly preferred
Approximately 15 years relevant experience with 7 or more years of experience as a leader of people
Demonstrated ability to gather and utilize marketplace data to inform pricing strategy and goals
Proven analytical skills and adeptness with analytical tools, including advanced Excel and statistical modeling packages
An ability – and interest in – developing and executing strategy and creating models and analysis to support the strategy
Experience in strategic planning, including market assessment, company and peer assessment, competitive dynamics evaluation, and strategy formulation
Keen attention to detail and ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the aptitude to communicate effectively in both individual and group settings to diverse audiences
Proven ability to deliver timely, accurate work product and demonstrate good follow up and follow through.
Proven ability to work effectively with an array of cross-functional teams across the company and enterprise and to build supportive and constructive relationships within and outside of the organization; ability to take the lead in inspiring others to work together for mutual benefit and in influencing decision-making across functions/departments.
