Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systemsis seeking a Mechanical Engineer 3 to work in Redondo Beach, California.
This Mechanical Engineer 3 will support the design andanalysis of manufacturing tooling, shipping containers, authoring ofengineering documentation and manufacturing work instructions. Additionally, the successful candidate will apply knowledge of assembly flowsfor production floor efforts including the development of Manufacturing Billsof Materials (MBOMs) from Engineering Bills of Materials (EBOMs). Criticalaspects of this role include the understanding of configuration control,quality assurance, material & processes, contamination requirements anddesign practices. Mechanical Engineer 3 is expected to effectivelycommunicate with team members, project and functional managers and internalcross-functional customers. These include the ability to interface with variouslevels of personnel including internal shop floor personnel, engineers, programand functional leads.
Design and definition of the manufacturing processes, procedures, and productionlayouts for assemblies and equipment used within the operation
Design and definition of work flows within the facilities to ensure the mostefficient and productive layout and process
Define the order of operations (flow) for manufactured assemblies andsubassemblies
Develop detailed work instructions for manufactured assemblies, subassemblies,and packaging
Guide Manufacturing/Production and plan for successful Preliminary DesignReview/ Critical Design Review (PDR/CDR) on multiple programs
Plan for and conduct Production and Test Readiness Reviews
Define and Develop the Manufacturing Bill of Materials within the MRP system(SAP) to include structuring for manufacturability to meet the most efficientmaterial and process workflow for the integration operations.
Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accreditedinstitution and 5 years of engineering experience in an aerospaceenvironment OR
Masters of Science degree in a STEM(Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math) field from an accreditedinstitution and 3 years of engineering experience in an aerospaceenvironment
Practical working experience with designingand defining the process and procedures for assemblies and equipment
Technical experience with developingManufacturing Bills of Materials (MBOMS)
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Security Clearance
Masters’ Degree in Mechanical Engineering
Possesses strong leadershipqualities, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills
