Job Responsibilities

Viasat is currently looking for a Facilities Technician who will support the maintenance and facility functions for approximately 600,000 square feet of facilities. In this exciting role, you will be responsible for performing installations, modifications and repairs including all building hard surfaces and specialty equipment, perform work tasks assigned, work with all other building technicians when required and complete tasks in a timely manner.

Additionally, you will execute moves, event setup and escort guests as required, receive and complete assigned monthly tasks directly or with support of Service Providers while taking primary direction from Lead Personnel and/or Maintenance Management, perform assigned function(s) assuring that required, requested and planned repairs, modifications, installations, renovations and other general maintenance activities are properly accomplished in a safe, efficient and timely manner, perform rough or finish carpentry and metal work to fabricate, assemble or repair windows, doors, hardware, screens, supports, equipment, devices, furniture, etc., includes miscellaneous shop fabrication.

In this role, you will perform labor or other semi-skilled duties including drilling, digging, equipment moving, component assembly, replacement of missing floor or ceiling tile, debris removal, etc., maintain shop work areas in a safe, clean operating condition and maintain good housekeeping practices throughout the campus at all times, report any unsafe campus conditions (structural or otherwise) and take appropriate action as required to resolve noted problems, perform building inspection duties, signage and painting work required for the facilities or equipment, maintain records, reports, recommendations, evaluations, etc., reflecting the conditions under which general building maintenance operations are performed, utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to coordinate working conditions with planning personnel and track resources/expenditures for all work performed and assist as required and coordinate with all trades people in the performance of day-to-day duties and responsibilities.


  • 5+ years of experience in a facilities role.

  • Ability to work evening and/or weekend hours.

  • Ability to perform “On-Call” responsibilities for after hour / weekend coverage.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision or guidance.

  • Ability to multitask and shift priorities.

  • Strong organizational skills and time management skills.

  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.

  • Strong computer skills; Microsoft office skills, including Word, Excel, Access, and Outlook

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • US government position. US citizenship required.

  • Up to 25% Travel


  • Ability to manage and work well with a variety of different personalities

  • Experience reading drawings and systems specifications/submittals

  • Prompt, consistent and orderly work habits

  • Ability to interact well with others in a team environment

  • Ability to learn new programs quickly

  • Ability to coordinate high utilization of vehicles across the network

  • Ability to complete work orders in servicing vehicles

  • Ability to arrange for basic maintenance on vehicles
