Apply systems engineering processes and skills to systematically convert customer needs into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints. Responsible for systems engineering planning, scheduling, and execution of requirements analysis, system design, analyses and trade studies, hardware/software design oversight, requirements verification, system integration, and system level test. This position typically works under general supervision and direction. Incumbents of this position will exercise discretionary decision-making authority.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Estimate, plan, schedule, and execute systems engineering activities
Analyze, generate, and manage system and subsystem requirements
Allocate system requirements to hardware/software and oversee development/refinement of lower-level requirements
Define the operational concepts
Perform analyses and trade studies as necessary to aid in the selection of system concepts
Integrate specialty engineering disciplines into a project team
Support the project team in defining and documenting the system architecture and design for a training system
Oversee developing hardware and software designs to ensure compliance with requirements and system design
Support project risk management activities
Perform hardware/software integration planning and oversee activities
Perform system level test planning and oversee test implementation
Perform technical risk management activities
Minimum Job Requirements:
Four year college degree in computer science, electrical engineering, or related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Two years of related professional experience.
Effective written and oral communication skills
Ability to use personal computer software such as spreadsheets and word processing programs which requires a database management tool.
Mental ability to perform engineering problem solving and analytical tasks.
Must be able to work under project deadlines and associated cost and schedule constraints.
Must be able to obtain a Security Clearance, if necessary.
Desirable Job Requirements:
Experience in dealing at customer interface level.
Experience in creating, analyzing, and documenting system and subsystem design.
Project/product coordination experience.
Human factors knowledge and familiarity with HMI considerations.
Knowledge in enterprise and/or embedded technologies.
Ticketing and automated fare collection or similar applications involving large networks of unattended or user-operated devices.
Familiarity with a variety of operating systems.
Worked with NFC, contactless smartcards, credit card personalization bureaus, payment systems and retail networks.
