Cruise is looking for a Sr. Lidar Systems Engineer to define specifications for our in house lidar development and deployment activities for autonomous vehicle applications.
Manage and derive system and component requirements of complex LIDAR systems and subsystems
Provide detailed design specifications for engineering to support the development and validation of next generation Lidar sensors
Lead the development of and traceability of system as well as subsystem and component level requirements for testing and validation
Analyze and negotiate requirements with internal and external stakeholders, trace their implementation throughout product development and integration
Perform system and component DFMEA (Design Failure Mode Effects Analysis) for recording potential failure modes and planned corrective actions
Work with functional safety to apply ISO 26262 to manage safety related requirements
Lead problem resolution, tracking, and provide feedback on status to tracked problems
Apply solid technical understanding, critical reasoning and a structured approach to solving problems in both familiar and unfamiliar domains
10+ years of industry experience developing complex system requirements for sensor evaluation and characterization
Extensive knowledge automotive electronic/electro-optical products directly related to ADAS and automotive LiDAR systems
Knowledge/experience with automotive active safety systems, specifications and environmental qualification
BS or MS in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or another relevant engineering field
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Ability to identify and act on opportunities to improve processes and increase efficiency
Thrive in a fast-paced environment with a high tolerance of ambiguity
Willing and able to travel to up to 2 weeks a month between San Francisco and LA - can be based in either location
